Graphic Novels Display

Graphic Novels Display

In the fall of 2007 the Pirate Library is spotlighting the new collection of graphic novels. Many students are interested in this novel form, and by prominently displaying them in the library's entrance more students are noticing them, browsing, and checking them out. Other students are making suggestions about other interesting graphic novels to add to the collection. The display promotes student interest and participation in collection development.

How is your graphic novel collection circulating? We started collecting these at the North Branch public library about a year ago. I find that the manga books are circulating much better than the other graphic novels--and I'm finding that some of the superhero/comic book ones that have glossy color pages are not bound as well. Almost all of my Runaways books have disintegrated. BTW, did I recognize a volume of Bleach in your picture?

Sorry to be so slow in answering. We only have a couple of series and they both seem to be popular. And you did recognize Bleach. Our other series is Trigun Maximum.

And we also have the Fruits Basket series which I ordered after your presentation to the Library Board last year. They are all much more popular than the graphic novels or the graphic biographies. I thought the graphic biographies would be much more popular than they have turned out to be.
